The CrowdTangle alternative for publishers
SocialWire is a CrowdTangle alternative built for publishers and newsrooms. You follow lists of public accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, YouTube and Bluesky, and SocialWire flags the posts doing far better than normal for each account, the way CrowdTangle's overperforming view did.

What CrowdTangle did, and what SocialWire keeps
Meta shut CrowdTangle down on August 14, 2024. Its most useful feature for newsrooms was simple: a list of pages, ranked by which posts were doing better than usual. SocialWire is built around that same workflow.
| What you used in CrowdTangle | In SocialWire |
|---|---|
| Lists of public accounts | Yes. One list can mix Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, YouTube and Bluesky accounts. |
| Overperforming posts | Yes. Every post gets a ×normal score against its own account's typical post. |
| Regular updates | Scans every 4 hours, twice a day, daily or on demand. |
| Historical data | Recent history loads as soon as you add an account, and the archive keeps growing. |
| Search | Yes. Search across all posts, or within a list. |
| Follower tracking | Yes. Daily follower counts for every account. |
| X, Threads, YouTube and Bluesky | Included. CrowdTangle focused on Meta's platforms. |
| Alerts and leaderboards | Yes. Alerts when a post breaks out, plus a leaderboard and analytics view. |
| AI summaries | New. AI reports on a list, by email, and a connection to Claude or ChatGPT. |
| Price | CrowdTangle was free. SocialWire starts at $99 a month, with a 14-day free trial. See pricing. |
Who it's for
- Publishers and newsrooms: editorial, social and audience teams who need to know what's moving today.
- Reporters on a beat: track the politicians, agencies and communities you cover in one place.
- Creators and independent media: benchmark against peers and see which topics and formats are working.
Why it ranks posts by ×normal
Raw likes always favor big accounts. A national outlet's routine post can get more interactions than the biggest post of the year from a local page. SocialWire divides each post's interactions by that account's typical post, so a small page and a giant one are judged fairly. How the ×normal score works.
How it compares with other tools
Several tools cover part of what CrowdTangle did. Most are built for brand marketing teams and sold through demos. Meta's own replacement is limited to approved researchers. SocialWire is built for publishers, with monthly plans you can start without a sales call. See the full comparison.
